Juni 2016 wie folgt beschrieben: &#8222;What we know is that the vehicle was on a divided highway with Autopilot engaged when a tractor trailer drove across the highway perpendicular to the Model S. Neither Autopilot nor the driver noticed the white side of the tractor trailer against a brightly lit sky, so the brake was not applied. The high ride height of the trailer combined with its positioning across the road and the extremely rare circumstances of the impact caused the Model S to pass under the trailer, with the bottom of the trailer impacting the windshield of the Model S.&#8220; (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.teslamotors.com\/blog\/tragic-loss\" target=\"_blank\">Tesla-Blog<\/a>, 30. Juni 2016) Demnach kamen zwei Umst\u00e4nde zusammen. Zum einen ist der Sattelzug senkrecht auf den Highway getroffen bzw. hat senkrecht zum Automobil gestanden. Eine \u00e4hnliche Situation k\u00f6nnte sich mit LKW und PKW in europ\u00e4ischen St\u00e4dten st\u00e4ndig ergeben, auf europ\u00e4ischen Autobahnen dagegen kaum. Zum anderen hat sich die Kamera t\u00e4uschen lassen und, von unten her aufnehmend, die wei\u00dfe Fl\u00e4che des Fahrzeugs mit dem hellen Himmel dahinter gleichgesetzt. Dies zeigt einmal mehr, dass Kameras nur bedingt eine geeignete Technik f\u00fcr automatische und autonome Autos sind und in jedem Falle mit verschiedenen anderen Systemen wie Radar und LiDAR kombiniert werden m\u00fcssen. Kameras kann man leicht t\u00e4uschen und t\u00e4uschen sich leicht. Im Tesla Model S ist eine komplexe Sensorik verbaut (Kameras, Radar, Ultraschall). Allerdings besteht offenbar Verbesserungsbedarf, und was das optische System wahrnimmt, muss unbedingt durch ein anderes geeignetes System \u00fcberpr\u00fcft werden. Zus\u00e4tzlich k\u00f6nnten die Hersteller konventioneller PKW und LKW in die Pflicht genommen werden.
